VITAMIN, MINERAL & TRACE ELEMENT GUIDE
Sulfur.
MINERAL
Sulfur is found in many parts of nature and used widely in the production industry. It’s also an essential mineral in our body.

Sulfur forms a part of three amino acids; cysteine, cystine, and methionine. These amino acids help with many enzymes reactions in our body. They are also needed to build the proteins found in our hair, skin and nails. This is how sulfur contributes to a glowing complexion, healthy hair and strong nails. Sulfur is also needed to form healthy cartilage and bones.

Sulfur also forms an essential part of certain vitamins in our body. It's needed in the structure of vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and biotin, and therefore aids in their function.

Deficiency

A lack of dietary sulphur effects the functioning of the vitamins and amino acids it forms a part of: vitamin B1, B5 and biotin. It also effects the health of our hair, skin and nails.

Sources

Sulfur is found in foods that contain the amino acids, methionine and cysteine. These include meat, poultry, eggs, fish, dried beans, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, onions and garlic.(1) As a general notion, when we have adequate protein in our diet it's likely we're meeting our sulfur needs.
